Connect PostHog and Expertise can answer product-analytics questions directly from your data: usage trends, saved insights and dashboards, feature flag rollout state, and people lookups. Every tool here only reads, nothing changes in PostHog, so nothing pauses for approval.

What you can ask

“What were our top 10 events over the last 7 days?”
“Show the trend for signups this month, broken down by plan.”
“Is the new-onboarding feature flag rolled out to everyone yet?”
“Look up the PostHog activity for jane@acme.com.”
“What’s in our ‘Weekly Active Users’ dashboard?”

Connecting

  1. Open Connections in the dashboard and click PostHog → Connect.
  2. In PostHog, create a personal API key from your account settings.
  3. Paste the key into the connect dialog.
  4. Ask Expertise a usage question to confirm it’s live.
You can disconnect from the Connections page any time, or revoke the key from your PostHog account settings.

Tools

Good to know

  • Nothing to approve. Every PostHog tool is a read, so approvals never come up for this connector, creating or editing flags, insights, and annotations isn’t supported today.
  • Multiple projects, one confirmation. If your account has more than one project, Expertise confirms which one it’s querying before running anything.
  • Numbers come from real queries. Expertise never estimates or extrapolates a metric, if a query comes back empty, it says so and shows you the query it ran.
  • People data stays minimal. Person lookups only surface the fields you asked for, not a full profile dump.

Troubleshooting

Reconnect from the Connections tile with a fresh personal API key, the original key may have been revoked or regenerated in PostHog.
Ask Expertise to list the project’s event definitions first, event names have to match exactly, and this confirms what’s actually being captured.
