HubSpot Form Attribution Setup (Step-by-Step)

Step 1: Go to HubSpot

0:00 Log in to your HubSpot account.

Step 2: Create a New Contact Property

0:24 Go to Contacts → Edit columns → Create a property.
  • Name the property (example: ExpertiseAiForm)
  • Set the field type to Single-line text

Step 3: Save the Property

0:51 Click Continue to create the property. Copy the internal property name, you’ll need this later.

Step 4: Open the Form

1:01 Navigate to Forms and open the form you want to track attribution for.

Step 5: Add a Hidden Field

1:18 Add a Single-line text field to the form. 1:34 Connect this field to the property you just created and mark it as Hidden.
1:42 Review and update the form, then copy the shared form link.

Step 7: Add Attribution via Query String

2:39 Open the shared form link. 2:50 Add a query string to the end of the URL using the internal property name:

3:02 Save the updated URL.

Step 8: Submit the Form

3:16 Open the form using the updated link. The hidden field will not appear, but it will be populated automatically on submission.

Step 9: Verify Attribution in Contacts

4:24 Go to Contacts in HubSpot and open the newly created contact. 4:30 Confirm that the attribution property is set to true.
